Development of the town of Chrudim is divided into two periods, separated by fire dated before the year 1338. The first stage is the period of formation and consolidation of urban organism. Second period indicates economic boom, accompanied by evidence of high standard of living (glass, stove tiles).

East Bohemia significantly enrolled in the history of the Hussite movement at the beginning of the movement, where many of the local nobility protested against the burning of Jan Hus. In 1420, in eastern Bohemia set up a separate Hussite Union (Orebites, then Orphans´ Union). A historic role played East Bohemian Hussites in promoting of results of Hussite movement in the period after 1437. Eastern Bohemia remained the support of Utraquism until the Thirty Years War.
